Next generation magnetic media require greater storage capacity at a very low cost. This can be accomplished with Bit Patterned Media (BPM), a creation of vertical small bits that circumvent the super paramagnetic relaxation problem. These patterned media disks consist of an array of discrete magnetic nano structures with islands smaller than 15nm in size, each of which can store one bit of data. Obducat’s NIL technology can be used for ultra-high resolution patterning needed in BPM at a with a high cost-efficiency not offered by any other lithography technique.
